Rund 1000 Portraits von Menschen aus London und den East Midlands werden auf den Platz projiziert und interagieren mit den Schatten der Besucher. Die Kunstinstallation versteht sich als Übernahme des öffentlichen Raumes durch die Einwohner der Stadt und verbindet die in London allgegenwärtigen Überwachungstechnologien mit Strategien der Selbstdarstellung. In London läuft zur Zeit die Ausstellung ‚Frequency and Volume‘ von Rafael Lozano-Hemmer in der Barbican. Ryoji Ikeda: Dream Amsterdam
Amsterdam. Für Dream Amsterdam hat der japanische visual artist Ryoji Ikeda reines Licht als Material für seine Intervention an vier Orten verwendet. Die Arbeit trägt den Titel „spectra :: Amsterdam“. Seine intensiv leuchtenden Installationen erscheinen mysterious und setzen vier Orte im Stadtbild miteinander in Verbindung. Mehr>Amsterdam. Die Website.In den vergangenen zehn Jahren hat sich eine Gemeinschaft von Künstlern, Designern, Architekten und Technik interessierten Menschen entwickelt, die über herkömmliche Muster von Medienanwendungen hinaus auf der Suche nach neuen Möglichkeiten ist, vorhandene Technologien neu zu begreifen und sowohl im künstlerischen Kontext als auch im Rahmen von kommerziellen Großprojekten einzusetzen.

Das vvvv Projekt entstand 1998 unter maßgeblichem Einfluss von Sebastian Oschatz und Max Wolf, beide Mitbegründer der Medienschmiede Meso. Das NODE 08 Festival möchte der stetig wachsenden vvvv Community eine Plattform zum Kennenlernen, Präsentieren und zum Austausch bieten. During the last ten years a community of artists, designers, architects and technically interested people has evolved, thinking and working way beyond common patterns of media applications, looking forward to interpret cutting edge technologies and pushing to its limits in the contexts of art and commercial projects. The host of NODE08 have been working for a long tiome in this realm, supporting the keen community with their multipurpose software tool kit vvvv free of charcge. The vvvv project has been established in 1998, influenced by Sebastian Oschatz and Max Wolf, both being co-founders of the media foundry Meso.
The NODE 08 festival intends to provide the ever growing community an event to get to know each other, to present, to exchange and share with a curious and interested audience. The NODE 08-participators will present Lighting-Installations in the Luminale.
