    Einige Wochen nach den viel beachteten Luminale-Installationen im Palmengarten: Anlässlich des 50. Jubiläums der Städtepartnerschaft von Frankfurt am Main mit Lyon hat die Oberbürgermeisterin Dr. h.c. Petra Roth mit ihrem Lyoner Amtskollegen Gérard Collomb die neue Beleuchtung des Oktogonbrunnens erstrahlen lassen. Die Stadt Lyon, bekannt für ihr „Fête des Lumières“ mit spektakulären Lichtinstallationen, sowie die Sponsoren Philips und Mainova ermöglichen dem Palmengarten dieses Kunstwerk. Das Licht-Konzept stammt von Jacques Fournier (Lyon). The town of Lyon, known for the „ Fête of the Lumières“, sponsored the spectacular light installations with sponsors Philips and Mainova.     Zu jeder Jahreszeit hüllt sich der Palmengarten in ein neues Kleid, das durch seine Vielfalt immer wieder neu besticht. „Streichlicht“ von Sabrina Spee verwandelt die Kolonnaden des Rosengartens in ein leuchtendes Biotop zwischen Winter und Frühling. Every season clothes the botanical gardens in a new dressgarments, which captivates us again and again by its variety. “Streichlicht” by Sabrina Spee transforms the collonades of the Rose Garden into a shining biotope between winter and spring.

  • Living Light – Biolumineszentes FeldLiving Light – Bioluminescent Field

    Die Installation von Nicola Burggraf besteht aus einem Feld biologischer Bewegungssensoren. Betritt der Besucher das Feld, so wird seine Anwesenheit von biolumineszenten Mikroorgansimen ‚bemerkt‘, die durch die Bewegung zum Leuchten angeregt werden. Es entstehen latente Lichtspuren im Raum.This installation by Nicola Burggraf consists of a field of biological movement sensors. When a visitor enters the field his presence is noticed by bioluminescent micro/organisms which are triggered to shine by movement. Latent tracks of light are created in the area.

    Die Farben, mit denen wir uns umgeben, sind Indikatoren für Zeit und Raum. Interaktiv werden Farbtöne im Gedächtnis der Maschine von Merlin Flügel gespeichert und für den Betrachter erfahrbar gemacht. The colours with which we surround ourselves are indicators of time and space. Colours are interactively stored in the brain of Merlin Flügel’s machine and made tangible for the observer.

    „Pipeline“ von Barbara Frischmuth und Kamile Poliksaite ist eine Installation aus Kunststoffrohren, welche im Kontrast zur natürlichen Umgebung stehen und durch Licht- und Farbakzente die Künstlichkeit hervorheben. Integrierte Bildschirme behandeln das Thema Wasser auf vielseitige Weise.“Pipeline” by Barbara Frischmuth and Kamile Poliksaite is an installation made of plastic tubes which stands in contrast to their natural surroundings, their artificiality is accentuated by light and colour. Integrated screens explore the subject of water in a multi-facetted manner.

    Ist der Mensch ein Parasit der Natur? Durch den Umgang mit der Lichtschale „Jing-Hua“ von Jifei Ou wird dem Besucher ein anderer Blick auf das Thema Parasitismus eröffnet. Es entsteht eine dynamische Interaktion zwischen Mensch und Objekt, analoger und digitaler Welt.

    Are humans a parasite of nature? By means of the “Jing-Hua” light bowl by Jifei Ou the visitor receives a different angle on the subject of parasitism. A dynamic interaction develops between human and object, between the analogue and digital worlds.

  • Splektrum – Interaktives Licht-KlanginstrumentSplektrum – Interactive Light Sound Instrument


    Das interaktive Licht- und Klanginstrument „Splektrum“ von Anthony Ransome-Jones und Christopher Prenzel erzeugt natürliche und kulturelle Klangwelten. Der Besucher bringt, durch Zupfen glimmender Lichtsaiten, das Subantarktishaus des Palmengartens zum Leuchten und Klingen.The interactive light and sound instrument “Splektrum” by Anthony Ransome-Jones and Christopher Prenzel produces natural and cultural worlds of sound. The visitor makes the Sub-Antarctis House of the botanical gardens shine and sound by plucking the glowing light strings.

  • Polymorph – Wandelbares LeuchtobjektPolymorph – Changeable Light Objekt

    „Polymorph“, das wandelbare Leuchtobjekt von Alice Gruhle, ist ein modulares Beleuchtungssystem, mit dem formal verwandte Objekte von unterschiedlicher Größe und Erscheinung gestaltet werden können. Die technischen Lichtskulpturen treten der Pflanzenwelt des Palmengartens während der Luminale gegenüber.“Polymorph”, the changeable light object by Alice Gruhle, is a modular lighting system, with which formally related objects of different sizes and appearance can be shaped. These technical light sculptures are set in contrast to the plant world of the botanical gardens during Luminale.
