Das Licht ist Motiv und Thema des Impressionismus – das Malen en plein air ist eines der Kennzeichen dieses Kunststils. Seurat hat sich in intensiver Weise mit dem Phänomen Licht und Farbe beschäftigt in seiner Freiluftmalerei, aber auch in seiner Ateliermalerei. Der französische Neoimpressionist Georges Seurat gilt heute als eine der Ikonen der bildenden Kunst des 19. Jahrhunderts und als wichtigster Vertreter des von ihm entwickelten Pointillismus. Er komponierte seine Werke akribisch aus zahllosen kleinen, nebeneinander angeordneten Farbtupfern, die, sobald sie sich auf der Netzhaut des Betrachters vermischen, einzigartige Farbwelten entstehen lassen. Kein Bildthema vermag so viel über Seurats Kunst zu erzählen wie die Figur in der Landschaft. Hell-Dunkel-Kontraste umspielen und akzentuieren die Figuren und verleihen ihnen eine unwirkliche Präsenz. Light is the motive and theme of impressionism – painting en plein air is one of the hallmarks of this artistic style. Seurat studied light and colour as a phenomenon in an intensive manner both in his outdoor art and in his atelier. The French neo-impressionist Georges Seurat is one of the icons of art in the 19th century and one of the most important protagonists of pointillism, which he developed. He composed his works out of countless small dots next to each other which conjure up unique worlds of colour when they merge in the eye of the viewer. No picture tells us as much about Seurats art as the Figure in a Landscape. Contrasts of light and dark caress and accent the figures and lend them an unreal presence. Die „Passage“ in den Kleinschen Höfen (Darmstadt) wurde von dem Architekten Jens Schader konzipiert: Während der Besucher durch die Hoffluchten wandert, beginnen um ihn herum die in den Schatten liegenden Fassaden zu leuchten. Die Raumgrenzen verschwimmen und der Betrachter gerät immer mehr in den Sog der sich über Pflaster und Gebäudefronten bewegenden Projektionen. Begleitet wird die Lichtinstallation von Ausstellungen und Führungen durch Offene Ateliers und Werkstätten.
Die Kleinschen Höfe befinden sich auf dem Gelände eines alten Darmstädter Handwerksbetriebes inmitten der Stadt. Sie bieten heute vielfältige Lebens- und Arbeitsmöglichkeiten. Es ist ein Ort voller Ideen und Impulse geworden, wo Menschen sowohl aus der Kunst als auch aus dem Handwerk ihren Platz gefunden haben.The “Passage” in the Kleinschen Höfen (Darmstadt) was concipated by architect Jens Schader: While visitors are wandering through the courtyards all around the facades in the shadows begin to shine. The limits of space blur and the observer is drawn into the suction of the projections which move over the ground and the building fronts. The light installation will be accompanied by exhibitions and guided tours through the open ateliers and workshops. The Kleinsche Höfe are situated on the premises of an old Darmstadt craftsmen’s business in the centre of town. Today they offer multiple opportunities for living and working. This has become a place full of ideas and impulses where people from the arts and craftsmen have found a place to belong. -
Das MondportalDas Mondportal
Dort, wo die Frankfurter Wallanlagen auf das Mainufer treffen, steht das „Mondportal“. Der Mond als natürliche Lichtquelle in der Nacht reflektiert das Sonnenlicht auf die Erde. Die Mondphasen sind entscheidend für alles Lebendige auf unserem Planeten. Das Spiegelbild des vollen Mondes auf einer stillen Wasserfläche war die Inspiration für die RZB-Leuchtenserie Mondana. Die Dynamik und Farbigkeit des natürlichen Lichtes, symbolisiert durch den RGB-Farblichtwechsel der Leuchten, erhält durch eine Zeitkomponente und die Reflektionsflächen der Leuchten einen Farbraum. Dieser bezieht seine Umgebung in die Lichtinszenierung mit ein. Das Mondana Portal ist eine Verneigung vor dem Tageslicht und der Romantik des Mondlichts.Where the Wallanlagen parks meet the banks of the Main river the Mondportal” moon portal stands. The moon as a natural nighttime light source reflects the sunlight onto the earth. The phases of the moon are crucial for all living organisms on our planet. The reflection of the moon on a still water surface was the inspiration for the Mondana lighting series by RZB. The dynamics and colouring of natural light, symbolised by the changing RGB coloured lights is given a colour space by means of a time component and the reflection surfaces of the lamps. This integrates the surroundings into the illumination. The Mondana portal is an ode to daylight and the romance of the moonlight. -

Fried Rosenstock wird mit einem weißen LED-Anzug der Firma Luminex abends nach Einbruch der Dunkelheit in den Wallanlagen Frankfurts spazieren gehen. Immer dort wo es am dunkelsten ist, wird er nach einer unhörbaren Musik etwa drei Minuten lang tanzen.Fried Rosenstock will go for a walk every evening after dark in the Wallanlagen (medieval wall parks) dressed in a white LED suit by Luminex. In the darkest spots he will dance to inaudible music for about three minutes. -
Alte Oper Lanterns Alte Oper Lanterns
Ein Team von Ingenieuren, Wissenschaftlern, Architekten, Studenten und der Industrie ist zusammengekommen, um gemeinsam „Alte Oper Lanterns“ zu inszenieren. Die Installation nutzt verbesserte selbst- und lang nachleuchtende Materialien und schafft damit glimmende Leuchten. Der Beleuchtungskörper besteht nicht wie üblich aus Lichtquelle und Schirm sondern die Strukturen selbst sind die Lichtquelle, sie erleuchten passiv die Pergolastruktur vor der Alten Oper.
Die Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) University hat ein länger anhaltendes Phosphor-Blau-Grün-Pigment entwickelt, das in Beschichtungen und Fasern eingesetzt werden kann. Dieses Material kann bis zu zwei Tage leuchten, bei minimaler Belichtung mit natürlichem oder künstlichem Licht. Aktuell wird es als nachhaltige Methode getestet, an Gebäuden einzelne Flächen hervorzuheben. Die Installation wird die Leuchtstärke und Farbpalette dieses Materials zeigen.
A collaborative team of engineers, material scientists, architects, students and industry have come together to produce the Alte Oper Lanterns. This is an installation that uses improved phosphorescent long afterglow materials formed to produce glowing lanterns. Instead of the lantern consisting of a cover and a separate light source, our structures will be the light source, passively illuminating the pergola structure in front of the Alte Oper.
The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) University have developed a longer lasting phosphorescent blue and green pigment that can be incorporated into coatings and fibres. This material has the ability to last upto 2 days with minimal exposure to natural or artificial light and is currently being tested on building surfaces as a sustainable way to highlight areas. The lanterns will demonstrate the lighting strength of this material and the colour range, inviting visitors to sit under the lanterns and enjoy the view to the fountain and Alte Oper as part of the Luminale event in the city.
