Die Luminale 2010 wird internationaler denn je. Lichtkünstler aus Italien haben sich zu einer Gemeinschaftsausstellung zusammengeschlossen. Niederländische Designer werden sich in einer eigenen Show präsentieren. Aus Hongkong und Singapur sind Licht-Projekte angekündigt. Ebenso von Designern aus Australien. In New York und London ist das Interesse an der Luminale ebenfalls groß. Auch Frankreich wird auf der kommenden Luminale präsent sein. Ein Schwerpunkt wird das Thema Licht und Musik sein. Projektionen und Performances sind ebenfalls in Vorbereitung. Bisher sind rund 150 Vorschläge für Licht-Installationen und Lichtinterventionen im öffentlichen Raum beim Projektbüro Luminale eingegangen. Jetzt beginnt die heiße Phase der Vorbereitung. Sponsoren und Locations müssen bis zum 24. Dezember 2009 für die Umsetzung der ehrgeizigen Projekte gefunden werden.The Luminale in 2010 becomes more international than ever. The Luminale in 2010 (How to participate) has a new focus in the city center in the Frankfurt ‚Wallanlagen‘. The park which forms a green ring around the core of the city center was built 200 years ago on the area of the old town wall. Many buildings and institutions which tells the history of Frankfurt are very close to this green ring. The park hits at the portico / literature house and at its other end near the Jewish museum on the Main embankment. The around one-hour walk along the cultural institutions, former bunker layouts just as international hotels and bank towers will be the the stage for light scenaries from 11th to 16th April, 2010. Die Luminale 2010 (Teilnahmebedingungen) wird in den Frankfurter Wallanlagen einen neuen Schwerpunkt in der Innenstadt finden. Die Parkanlage, die einen grünen Ring um den Kern der Innenstadt legt, wurde vor 200 Jahren auf dem Gelände der abgetragenen Stadtmauer angelegt. An diesem Grünzug liegen viele Gebäude und Institutionen, die Frankfurts Geschichte prägen. Der Park trifft beim Portikus/Literaturhaus und an seinem anderen Ende nahe dem Jüdischen Museum auf das Mainufer. Der rund einstündige Spaziergang vorbei an kulturellen Institutionen, ehemaligen Bunkeranlagen ebenso wie an internationalen Hotels und Bankentürmen wird vom 11. bis 16. Leni Schwendinger: A Spatial Portrait
‚A Spatial Portrait‘ ist eine interaktive Skulptur der New Yorker Lichtdesignerin Leni Schwendinger, die dieser Tage im Liberty Science Center installiert wird. Die 108 LED-Stränge reagieren auf die Bewegungen der Besucher in der großen Halle und ergeben so ein permant wechselndes Abbild dieses Raumes. Mehr>‚A Spatial Portrait‘ – a vibrantly colorful 3-dimensional interactive sculpture by Leni Schwendinger – is going to be unveiled at the Liberty Science Center. The sculpture, commissioned by the New Jersey State Council of the Arts, is composed of 108 strands of light emitting diodes (LEDs), each 8 feet long, which create a dazzling show of light in real time. The installation captures the movement of every visitor to the Center as they circulate throughout the Great Hall – resulting in an ever-changing “spatial portrait.” More>

Konrad Dörner, Geschäftsführer der Kulturregion Frankfurt RheinMain gGmbH unterstrich die Bedeutung der Luminale für die Rhein-Main-Region. Helmut M. Bien, Kurator der Luminale, stellte das Konzept der Luminale vor. Anschließend rege Diskussion mit Bürgermeistern und Kulturverantwortlichen aus der Region. A luminous jewel during the day, a light carpet at night. This is the concept for the annexe of the world-famous art museum at the Main. The Frankfurt architects office Schneider + Schumacher wins the competition to the extension of the Städel. This week the competition was decided. Schneider + Schumacher have taken part in some projects of Luminale. Maybe they can hand over the new building to the general public next Luminale in 2010. Ein leuchtendes Juwel am Tag, ein Lichtteppich in der Nacht. Das ist das Konzept für den Erweiterungsbau des weltberühmten Kunstmuseums am Main. Das Frankfurter Büro Schneider + Schumacher gewinnt den Wettbewerb zur Erweiterung des Städels. In dieser Woche wurde der Wettbewerb entschieden. Schneider + Schumacher haben an einigen Luminale-Veranstaltungen teilgenommen. Vielleicht können sie den Neubau zur nächsten Luminale 2010 der Öffentlichkeit übergeben.
