Jubiläums der Städtepartnerschaft von Frankfurt am Main mit Lyon hat die Oberbürgermeisterin Dr. h.c. Petra Roth mit ihrem Lyoner Amtskollegen Gérard Collomb die neue Beleuchtung des Oktogonbrunnens erstrahlen lassen. Die Stadt Lyon, bekannt für ihr „Fête des Lumières“ mit spektakulären Lichtinstallationen, sowie die Sponsoren Philips und Mainova ermöglichen dem Palmengarten dieses Kunstwerk. Das Licht-Konzept stammt von Jacques Fournier (Lyon).
