These technical light sculptures are set in contrast to the plant world of the botanical gardens during Luminale.

Der Palmengarten und die HFG Offenbach: Stadtlichtung – Licht als InszenierungPalmengarten and the HFG Offenbach: City Light Glade – Light as a show
Erneut kooperieren Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach und der Palmengarten Frankfurt zur diesjährigen Luminale 2010. Studenten zeigen Lichtexperimente, die den Gegensatz und das Zusammenspiel von Kultur und Technik durch überraschende Seh- und Hörerlebnisse inszenieren. In völlig unterschiedlichen interaktiven Installationen thematisieren Studenten der Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach am Main den Begriff Parasitismus und nutzen dazu die unmittelbare Nähe des Palmengartens. Die Bespielung erfolgt sowohl auf den Freiflächen als auch in Räumen der Gewächshäuser. Grenzgänge zwischen Kunst und Design – entstanden im Entwurfsseminar bei Prof. Frank Georg Zebner an der Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach am Main – kuratiert von Karin Wittstock, Leiterin des Palmengartens Frankfurt am Main.
This year the Academy of Art and Design (HfG), Offenbach and the Palmengarten botanical gardens again cooperate for Luminale 2010. Students show light experiments which highlight both the contrast and the interaction of culture and technology through surprising audio and visio experiences. In completely different interactive installations students of the Offenbach Academy of Art and Design focus on the term parasite hereby making use of the proximity of the botanical gardens. The events take place both in outdoors and in the hot houses. Borderline experiences between art and design – developed in Prof. Frank Georg Zebner’s seminar at the Academy of Art and Design, Offenbach am Main – curated by Karin Wittstock, Head of the Palmengarten Frankfurt am Main. -
Kohlekran in neuem LichtCoal crane in a new light
In exponierter Hafen-und Uferlage zwischen A 661 Offenbach-Kaiserlei und dem Mainufer Offenbach wird der historische Kohlekran am EVO-Heizkraftwerk nachts neu in Szene gesetzt. Die LED-basierten Illuminationen betonen die Konstruktion, zeichnen sie nach oder lassen sie im nächtlichen Kontext verschwimmen. Die in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Fachbereich Produktgestaltung der HfG Offenbach entstandenen Illuminationen werden im Rahmen der Luminale eröffnet und fortan nächtlich erstrahlen.
In an exposed dock and riverbank venue between the A 661 Offenbach-Kaiserlei motorway and the Main riverbank in Offenbach the historical coal crane at the EVO power station will be set in a new scene. The LED-based illuminations emphasise the construction, retrace it or blur it in the nocturnal context. These illuminations in cooperation with the product design course of the HfG Offenbach will be opened for Luminale and then continue to shine at night. -
Best Communication Concept by Sebastian Herkner
Sebastian Herkner, dessen Palmengarten-Inszenierung zur Luminale in bester Erinnerung ist, hat mit dem Standkonzept für die hfg Offenbach auf der imm cologne 2009 den Preis für das beste Standkonzept bekommen. Der Stand wird demnächst auf der Konsumgütermesse ambiente in Frankfurt zu sehen sein. Herkner selbst zeigte in Köln seine ’silhouette‘ (siehe Abbildung).Sebastian Herkner whose palm garden-project for Luminale is in the best recollection has received the prize for the best stand with the box of hfg Offenbach on imm cologne in 2009. The stand shall soon be seen on the consumer goods fair Ambiente in Frankfurt. Herkner himself presented his ’silhouette‘ (see picture) in Cologne.

rosalie: Hyperion_Fragment
Karlsruhe. Mit HYPERION_Fragment ist neben Helios eine neue Arbeit von rosalie im ZKM_Kubus zusehen. Entstanden ist die Licht-Installation als gemeinsames Projekt der Stuttgarter Künstlerin und des Komponisten Georg Friedrich Haas anlässlich der Donaueschinger Musiktage 2006. Mehr>Karlsruhe.
