  • Boston folgt dem Beispiel der LuminaleBoston follows the Example of Luminale

For a few days in October, organizers of Illuminale Boston 2008 are hoping to light up buildings and bridges around the city. That writes the Boston Globe. Further: „That’s the vision a group of lighting designers hopes to bring to Boston, lighting up the city for a few days in early October during the official opening of the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway. Lana Nathe, a key mover behind the notion, has long been inspired by the lighting festivals of Europe, especially Frankfurt’s Luminale, a show staged every two years in which more than 200 cathedrals, staid government buildings, offices, and sculptures are bathed in colorful lights.“ Good luck.

Birmingham. In Mai/June the worldwide first Climate Chance Festival took place in Birmingham. Besides, ambitious climate purposes were proclaimed for Birmingham. To motivate the citizens to the change in thinking, a pylon for electrity (design by Block Architects) was installed on the place before the city hall. Pylons allow the cities to use energy without seeing the chimneys and cooling towers of the power station. Like so many things in daily lives, they illustrate how the consequences of our choices are hidden from the people. This structure is an impossible-to-ignore reminder. The designers, Block Architecture, have transformed the pylon to suggest that change could be for the better. Mehr>
