Sergio Chiamparino, der Oberbürgermeister von Turin, übernimmt die Schirmherrschaft für die Ausstellung ‚Luces – Lichtkunst aus Italien‘, die eigens für die Luminale von der Kuratorin Gisella Gellini (Mailand) zusammengestellt wurde. Sie ist im Archäologischen Museum Frankfurt zu sehen. Die Stadt Turin feiert alljährlich in der Vorweihnachtszeit das international angesehene Festival ‚Luci d’Artista‘. Ein Vortrag von Thomas Schielke: Lichtdecken bieten Raumeindrücke und erlauben verschiedene Arten der Beleuchtung. Außerdem sind sie auch Metaphern des natürlichen Himmels und spiegeln die ästhetische und architektonische Debatte. Ein Blick in die Kunstgeschichte zeigt, dass das Bild des Himmels, das seinen theologischen Höhepunkt in den leuchtenden Stuckdecken der Renaissance erreichte, sich in großangelegten leuchtenden Oberflächen darstellt. Auch wenn die Lichtstärke heutiger LED Screens stark an Intensität zugenommen hat und eine hohe Anziehungskraft entwickelt, so suchen Designer doch eine bildhafte Sprache für eine eindrucksvolle Raumwirkung zu schaffen. Besides this, they are, however, also metaphors of the natural sky and a mirror of an aesthetic and architectural debate. The historical observation of ceilings reveals that the image of heaven, which reached a theological culmination in the luminous Renaissance stucco techniques, turned into large-scale light emanating surfaces. Even if the luminance of contemporary LED screens has increased intensely and thereby creates a point of attraction, designers still look to establish a pictorial language for an impressive appearance. Tokujin Yoshioka: „The idea of this architecture project „Rainbow Church“ dates back to when I was in early 20s. When I was in France for a business trip, I went to Vence, a commune located near Nice. There, I visited the Chapelle du Rosaire, which Henri Matisse, a French painter, created in his last years. I was engrossed in the beauty of the light that the chapel created. I experienced a space filled with the light of Matisse: Being bathed in the sunlight of the Provence, the stained glass with Matisse’s vibrant colors suffused the room with full of colors. Since then, I had been dreaming of designing an architecture where people can feel the light with all senses.This dreaming architecture project will be realized as a concept plan at the exhibition held at MUSEUM. beyondmuseum in Seoul from May, 2010. The exhibition is planned to last until the end of June.
A 9-meter-high stained glass made with approximately 500 crystal prisms will be filling the space with rainbow colors as the light shines on it.“ Mehr>

Der italienische Designer Mario Nanni zeigt auf der Luminale 2010 seine Ausstellung „Was ist Licht für Dich?“ Auf dem Frankfurter Roßmarkt wird ein mobiler Pavillon eine Sammlung von Ideen zeigen, was sich Kinder zwischen 0 und 14 Jahren unter Licht vorstellen. Am Donnerstag, den 11. Februar wird das Projekt in Mailand in der La Triennale di Milano vorgestellt. Nach der Media Architecture Conference London 2007 und der Medien Fassaden Ausstellung Berlin 2008 versammelt das Media Architecture Institute (Wien) auch zum Media Facades Summit 2010 zentrale Akteure dieses neuen Gestaltungsfeldes. An der Veranstaltung nehmen Astrid Piber (UNstudio), Rogier van der Heide (Philips), Christoph Kronhagel (kronhagel – mediatecture), Jan/Tim Edler (Realities:United), Andreas Schulz (Lichtkunstlicht) und Marc Largent (Magic Monkey) teil. Luminale 2010: Philips und PLDA starten WettbewerbLuminale 2010: Philips, PLDA launch lighting competition
Mark Major, einer der weltweit einflussreichsten Lichtdesigner, engagiert sich für den Wettbewerb zur Luminale 2010: „Die Luminale hat sich inzwischen zum ‚Must-see“ Ereignis während der weltweit progressivsten Lichtmesse entwickelt und der Wettbewerb wird sicher im Zentrum des Interesses der Community der unabhängigen Lichtdesigner stehen. Es ist eine echte Chance für junge professionelle Lichtdesigner.“ Und er fügt hinzu: „Der Wettbewerb gibt den Stars von morgen die Chance, die eigenen Fähigkeiten auf der internationalen Bühne zu beweisen.“
Eine hochkarätig besetzte Jury wird den Wettbewerb begleiten und die Auswahl treffen. Wer ausgewählt wird, erhält 1.000 Euro, um einen Vorschlag für die temporäre Beleuchtung der Jungkulturkirche st. peter in Frankfurt während der Luminale zu entwickeln. Der preisgekrönte Vorschlag wird in die Tat umgesetzt und ist mit weiteren 9.000 Euro dotiert. Während der ‚Celebration of Light‘ des PLDA werden die Vorschläge vorgestellt. Anmeldeschluss für die Auswahlrunde zum Wettbewerb ist der 12. Februar. It’s a must for young lighting designers,” said leading lighting archiect Mark Major. „This competition represents an incredible opportunity for tomorrow’s lighting superstars to showcase their creative skills on the international stage,” he added.
This Architectural Lighting Design competition offers ‚young professional lighting designers‘ the chance to have their work reviewed by a respected international jury. If selected for the shortlist, the lighting designers will receive remuneration (1000 EUR) to develop a temporary lighting design scheme for the building. The winning design will berealized, and the winning designer awarded a further 9000 EUR and given the opportunity to present his/her project at the PLDA Celebration of Light in Frankfurt on 13. April, 2010. The brief is to design a temporary exterior architectural lighting scheme for St. Peter’s Church in Frankfurt-on-Main. Deadline for entries is the 12th February! More>
