  • Christoph Ernst: ‚Windmove‘ – Art in Energy


    Karlsruhe. Christoph Ernst has realized the light art project ‚Windmove‘ on a windpower-installation. It stands on the „energy mountain“, a former garbage dump near Karlsruhe. The 25 meter long rotor sheets are equipped with 192 electroluminescense transparencies of 100 x 10 cms and are protected with erosion protection transparencies of 3M. More>Karlsruhe. Christoph Ernst hat das weithin sichtbare Lichtkunstprojekt ‚Windmove‚ realisiert. Bespielt wird eine Windkraftanlage. Sie steht auf dem Energieberg, einer ehemaligen Mülldeponie im unmittelbaren Stadtgebiet von Karlsruhe. Die 25 Meter langen Rotorblätter sind mit 192 Elektrolumineszenzfolien von je 100 x 10 cm bestückt und mit 3M Erosionsschutzfolien geschützt. Mehr>

  • Polygon Playground

    Der Polygon Playground ist ein großformatiges interaktives „Lounge-Objekt“. Es bietet Platz für 40 Gäste, die das Objekt zeitgleich begehen, darauf sitzen und die vielgestaltigen Oberflächen erkunden. Rampen führen auf das Hochplateau, auf dem genug Platz zum Chillen ist. WHITEvoid, die während der Luminale 06 im Kurhaus Wiesbaden ihre Installation Atom präsentierten, die 2008 auch im Centre Pompidou in Paris gezeigt wurde, haben für ihre Website-Gestaltung den reddot design award erhalten.     The Polygon Playground is a large scale interactive lounge object. It offers room for up to 40 persons at a time to walk, sit and explore its multifaceted surfaces. Gradient ramps guide to the top plateau or offer space to sit and rest. WHITEvoid who presented during the Luminale 06 in the Kurhaus Wiesbaden the installation Atom which was shown in 2008 also in the Centre Pompidou in Paris, have won the reddot design award for their website application.   • President of the ECB Jean-Claude Trichet about Luminale-EngagementJean-Claude Trichet (Präsident der EZB) bekennt sich zu Luminale-Engagement

    Frankfurt am Main. Jean Claude Trichet, Präsident der Europäischen Zentralbank (EZB), hat die Ehrenplakette der Stadt Frankfurt erhalten. Anlässlich der Ehrung betont Trichet die Verbundenheit der EZB mit Frankfurt und erwähnt als ein gutes Beispiel die Luminale. Zur Luminale 2008 war die Grossmarkthalle (Bauplatz der künftigen EZB-Zentrale) durch eine großartige Projektion von Casa Magica illuminiert. Mehr>

On the occasion of the honor ceremony Trichet explains the relation of the ECB with Frankfurt and mentions Luminale as a good example. During the Luminale in 2008 the Grossmarkthalle (construction zone of the future central building of ECB) was illuminated by a fantastic projection of Casa Magica. More>

    Bonn. Now Fotocommunity, partner of the Luminale 08, has its own TV program. During the Luminale fotocommunity runs its own lounge in the historical museum of Frankfurt and organized a photo competition.Bonn. Fotocommunity, Partner der Luminale 08, hat jetzt ein eigenes TV-Programm. Während der Luminale hatte die fotocommunity eine eigene Lounge im Historischen Museum Frankfurt und veranstaltete einen Foto-Wettbewerb.

  • Walking as a Method of Town PerceptionGehen als Methode der Stadtwahrnehmung


    Walking is the easiest and most natural kind to explore a town. Our mobility has changed not only our surroundings, but also our look at the world. Therefore, arrangements like Luminale are so popular because they stimulate new routes through the everyday area. In September the congress examines such type of the town perception. The walk science – or also Promenadology – was developed in the 1980s by the Swiss sociologist and planning theorist Lucius Burckhardt (1925-2003) and deals with our perception and mobility as well as their consequences town planning. Info to the congress: More>Gehen ist die einfachste und natürlichste Art, sich eine Stadt zu erschließen. Unsere Mobilität hat nicht nur unsere Umgebung geändert, sondern auch unseren Blick auf die Welt. Deshalb sind Veranstaltungen wie die Luminale so beliebt, weil sie zu neuen Routen durch das eigentlich vertraute Gelände anregen. Im September untersucht der Kongress „Gut zu Fuß“ diese Art der Stadtwahrnehmung.
