Gutes Design sorgt auch in Krisenzeiten für ein positives Markenimage und Umsatzsteigerungen. Dies sind erste Ergebnisse einer Befragung unter den 25 Gewinnern des Designpreises der Bundesrepublik Deutschland 2009. Der Designer Richard Sapper (Design-Ikone ‚Tizio‘ zum Beispiel) wurde für sein gestalterisches Lebenswerk mit dem Designpreis Persönlichkeit ausgezeichnet. Weitere ‚Licht‘-Preisträger: Yello Strom, ag4 media facade, Baltensweiler AG, Flos / Antares, Atelier Markgraph.
Good design ensures a positive brand image and brings increasing sales even in times of crisis. These are the initial results of a survey among 25 winners of the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany 2009. The designer Richard Sapper (the lighting icon ‚Tizio‘ for example) got the Design Award in recognition of his lifetime’s work. Frankfurt opened the 2006 World Cup one week early at Whitsun 2006. A 45-minute light and media show (produced by Atelier Markgraph, Luminale-Participant 2004) transformed the city skyline into an outsize stage for football. A dazzling cavalcade of over 500 pictures, projected onto eight high-rise banks, took spectators on an eleven-stage journey through footballs great emotions: i.g. mourning, euphoria, fortune. Around 1 million people watched the Miracle of the Main live, and 182 TV stations broadcast the spectacle to almost 100 countries. Interview with Roland Lambrette, Creative Director here>
‚A Spatial Portrait‘ ist eine interaktive Skulptur der New Yorker Lichtdesignerin Leni Schwendinger, die dieser Tage im Liberty Science Center installiert wird. Die 108 LED-Stränge reagieren auf die Bewegungen der Besucher in der großen Halle und ergeben so ein permant wechselndes Abbild dieses Raumes. Mehr>
‚A Spatial Portrait‘ – a vibrantly colorful 3-dimensional interactive sculpture by Leni Schwendinger – is going to be unveiled at the Liberty Science Center. The sculpture, commissioned by the New Jersey State Council of the Arts, is composed of 108 strands of light emitting diodes (LEDs), each 8 feet long, which create a dazzling show of light in real time. The installation captures the movement of every visitor to the Center as they circulate throughout the Great Hall – resulting in an ever-changing “spatial portrait.” More>
Indianapolis. Das New Yorker Acconci Studio (Vito Acconci, Nathan DeGraaf, Jono Podborsek, Dario Nunez, Eduardo Marques, Ezio Blasetti) reagierte auf den ‚Call for Projects‘ von Luminapolis.com. Das international bekannte Studio entwickelte das Projekt ‚Swarm Street‘ für das Parkhaus Virginia Avenue Garage. Es handelt sich um eine interaktive Licht-Installation, die sich selbst organisiert und auf Passanten, Radfahrer, Autos, kurz alles reagiert, was sich im Parkhaus bewegt. Neben aller Ästhetik beugen die ausgelösten Lichtfunken auch dem Vandalismus vor. Mehr>

Luminapolis.com called for innovative concepts and the well known Acconci Studio sent this: Acconci Studio (Vito Acconci, Nathan DeGraaf, Jono Podborsek, Dario Nunez, Eduardo Marques, Ezio Blasetti) developed ‚Swarm Street‘ for Virginia Avenue Garage. It is an ambient intelligence scenario using interactive light. Beside all aesthetic impressions it’s an intelligent way to protect vandalism.
The passage through the building is a volume of color: the color changes from morning to afternoon to night… As you walk through, as you cycle through, as you drive through, the thickness of color is broken: a sparkle here, a sparkle there, another sparkle in-between –– one sparkle affects the other, pulls the other, like a magnet – a point of sparkle is stretched out into a line of sparkles is stretched out into a network of sparkles…
It’s you that sets off the sparkles: you’re surrounded by a mesh of structure that holds LED’s –you’re moving under and next to a jungle of branches, a tangle, a ravel, the lights turn on-and-off as you pass through… The sparkles multiply, like a swarm of fireflies: they’re above you, below you, they follow you, they spread out in front of you and light your way through the tunnel. When another pedestrian, another cyclist, another car, comes toward you or passes you by, some of these fireflies have found a new attractor, they go off in another direction, a new flock emerges elsewhere, the flock keeps shifting… More>

Luminapolis hat es natürlich besonders der Laternenfisch und das Thema Licht in der Tiefsee angetan. Die aktuelle Ausstellung im Naturmuseum Senckenberg bringt Licht in die Tiefsee. Für das Gemeinschaftsprojekt mit dem Naturmuseum Basel wurde eigens eine Halle gebaut. Mehr>
