  • Exhibition in Madrid: Shadows

    Das Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza und die Fundación Caja Madrid zeigen eine excellent dokumentierte Ausstellung zum Thema Schatten. Es ist die Schau, die sich der Kunsthistoriker Ernst H. Gombrich immer gewünscht hat. Gombrich hat sich als einer der ersten für die Schattendarstellung in der Kunst interessiert.     The Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza and the Fundación Caja Madrid present the excellent documented exhibition on the subject shadows in western art. It is the show which the scientist of art history Ernst H. Gombrich has always wished. Gombrich was one of the first interested in the shadow representation in art.   • One of the Biggest of the World: Lighting Master Plan: River Rhine ValleyEiner der größten der Welt: Lichtmasterplan Rheintal

    Für das Welterbe Oberes Mittelrheintal hat das Planungsbüro licht/raum/stadt einen Lichtmasterplan entwickelt, der den Gemeinden am Rhein dabei helfen soll, eine der attraktivsten Landschaften Deutschlands behutsam und naturverträglich zu inszenieren. Der vorliegende Masterplan dürfte von der Fläche des Planungsgebietes einer der größten der Welt sein. Uwe Knappschneider (Luminale-Teilnehmer seit 2004) von licht/raum/stadt ist auch für die nächtliche Stadtinszenierung von Koblenz zuständig. Bis zur Bundesgartenschau 2011 soll der ehrgeizige Plan für Koblenz umgesetzt sein.

    For the world heritage upper middle Rhine Valley the planning office licht/raum/stadt has developed a light master plan which should help the municipalities on the Rhine to produce one of the most attractive sceneries of Germany warily and ecology correctly. The present master plan might be from the dimensions of the planning area one of the biggest ones of the world. Uwe Knappschneider (Luminale participant since 2004) from licht/raum/stadt is also responsible for the night sceneries of Koblenz. Up to german garden show (Bundesgartenschau) in 2011 the ambitious plan should be completed.

    Die Kinetic Art Fair (27.2. – 2.3.), die vom Kinetica Museum London veranstaltet wird, ist ein neues Forum für die Avantgarde, die Kunst und Technologie, Design und digitale Welten zusammenführt. Jason Bruges ist ebenso dort wie Chris O’Shea oder Chris Levine. Die Luminapolis-Redaktion ist am Montag, den 2. März 2009 in London auf der der Kinetic Art Fair.   • Norwegian Lighting Forest

    Cathrine Kullberg hat für das Emil & Samuel in Oslo eine romantische Licht & Wald-Installation geschaffen. Mehr>

    Cathrine Kullberg has designed this 100 square meter ceiling/wall installation of wood veneer, light and laser-cut patterns – a glowing forest with owls, foxes, squirrels and birds playing between the trees. The eye-catcher of the installation is the 10 meter wide back lit veneer frieze, and the flying lit eagles soaring above the dinner guests – and the over-sized pine cones, actually serving as ventilation grilles for the space. The interior designers from Anyplace have designed the overall interior of the restaurant.

    Ingo Maurer (Luminale particiant 2002, 2004) has been illuminating lives since 1966, when he designed his first light fixture for an installation at the Herman Miller showroom in Munich. His creation was entitled Bulb and featured a light bulb within a light bulb. The design was so successful that Maurer had to produce more to match the demand. Since then, his fascination with lighting, his pursuit of simplicity of form, and his talents as a graphic designer and typographer have brought him to the forefront of his field. His work has been exhibited in countless museums and it has brightened urban bridges, artistic exhibitions, retail and commercial spaces as well as numerous private homes. Arranged thematically, this dazzling retrospective brings together an extensive and representative selection of Maurer’s lamps and lighting systems.
