  • LIGHT ♥ FRANKFURTLIGHT ♥ FRANKFURT

    LIGHT ♥ FRANKFURT ist eine Anspielung auf den unbeschwerten Liebesbeweis im klassischen I♥NY Logo. Ein stilisiertes Herz wird aus sich kreuzenden blutroten Laserstrahlen kreiert, Leidenschaft, Liebe und starke Emotionen symbolisierend, hervorgerufen durch das Medium Licht. Als Designer lieben wir das Medium Licht. Gerade Frankfurt regt dazu an, sich mit Beleuchtung zu beschäftigen. Wir glauben, dass Licht, wenn möglich, unsere Emotionen erwidern würde. Unsere Installation lässt Laserstrahlen explosionsartig aus einer zentralen Quelle schießen. Der innere Kern nimmt dabei die Form eines Herzens an. Einige Strahlen brechen aus, strahlen in die Tiefen des Tunnels und fügen damit der Installation eine dritte Dimension zu. Nebel macht die Laserstrahlen sichtbar, lässt sie aber dennoch mystisch erscheinen. LIGHT ♥ FRANKFURT is a play upon the jovial expression of love declared in the classic I♥NY logo. The stylized heart is rendered by criss-crossing blood red laser beams, that symbolise the passion, love and strong emotion that lighting can inspire. As designers we love the medium of light, and Frankfurt is a city that encourages and embraces good lighting, so we believe that if possible light would return the same sentiment. The installation itself consists of laser beams emerging from a central source as from an explosion, with its inner core taking up the shape of a heart. Some of the beams breake out and are emitted into the depth of the tunnel, adding a third dimension to the installation. Haze is created and used to make the laser beams visible, yet make them appear mystical.

    Zusätzlich ist die Ausstellung eine Hommage an Marinella Pirelli, eine der ganz Großen in der Kinetik- und Lichtkunst, die im Juni 2009 verstarb. Ziel ist, einem internationalen Publikum die ausdrucksvolle, künstlerische Bedeutung in der Arbeit mit Licht vorzustellen – ein Bereich, der zum Wertvollsten des italienischen Designs gehört.

    In addition, the exhibition will be paying homage to Marinella Pirelli, a master of cinetic and light art who died last June 2009. The aim is to highlight and introduce to an international attendance the expressive artistic contents of the lighting, a sector that is already one of the most valuable assets of Italian design. Hence the synergical relationship with Light+Building, both for the media resonance enjoyed by that event and for its technological contents, often shared with this kind of art.

    „biotopic“ ist eine Projektion, die den Bahnhof mittels aus der Natur entlehnten Formenspielen in einen künstlichen Dschungel verwandelt und den urbanen Raum in eine Atmosphäre der Verwilderung taucht.„biotopic“ is a projection which will transform the station into an artificial jungle by means of shapes taken from nature and will plunge this urban space into an atmosphere of wilderness.

    „presence in absence“ ist eine Landschaft von sich bewegenden, leuchtenden Kegeln die ungenutzen Raum durch ihre Bewegung kommunikativ in eine neue Beziehung zwischen Betrachter und Stadt setzen. “presence in absence“ is a landscape of moving, shining cones which by means of their movements communicatively set the unused space into a new relationship between the observer and the town.

    „liquid light“ ist eine Installation aus einer leuchtenden Membran, die durch osmotische Bewegung der Oberfläche tief in den Raum eingreift und dadurch als Multiplikator zwischen Betrachter und Raum agiert.„liquid light“ is an installation out of a shining membrane which intervenes in the room by osmotic movement of the surface and thereby acts as a multiplicator between the observer and the room.

    Die verschiedenen Projekte des Instituts für Mediengestaltung am Frankfurter HBF und am Mainzer HBF werden durch eine mobile Licht-Installation verbunden. Die S-Bahn-Linie S8 bildet eine „fahrende Lichtung“. Dafür werden die Fenster und Türen des Zugs mit farbiger Folie verkleidet. So bietet sich eine veränderte Innen- und Außensicht. Nachts wird der S-Bahn-Zug zum beweglichen Lichtobjekt.The different projects by the Institut für Mediengestaltung at the Frankfurt and Mainz main railway stations are connected by a mobile light installation. The S-Bahn line S8 forms a “Mobile Lighting”. For this the windows and doors of the train will be disguised with coloured foil. This creates a changed interior and exterior appearance. At night the S-Bahn train becomes a moving light object.

    Die Installation wird durch ein Gerüst, welches an den vier Eckpunkten der oberen Rolltreppen aufgestellt wird, ermöglicht. Hiermit besteht die Möglichkeit die Treppen auszuleuchten, abzudunkeln und zu bespielen. Durch sogenanntes Motion-Tracking werden die Bewegungen der Menschen, die sich auf der Rolltreppe befinden, aufgegriffen und in den Projektionen wiedergegeben. Somit stellt sich ein interaktiver Bezug zwischen Betrachter und Installation her.
    091215_Luminale_end_praese_4The installation is made possible enabled by a frame which is fixed on the four corners of the upper escalator. This affords the possibility of lighting, darkening and playing on the stairscase. By so/called motion tracking the movements by the people on the escalator are taken up and shown in the projection. This creates an interactive relationship between the observer and the installation.
