Spätestens seit der Pariser Weltausstellung 1900 ist elektrisches Licht ein Sinnbild für Modernität. Dies blieb nicht ohne Auswirkungen auf Architektur, Theater, Malerei, Plastik, Fotografie, Film und Musik. Das Bauhaus um den Formmeister László Moholy-Nagy bildete ab 1922 ein Zentrum der neuen Bewegung. Er experimentierte mit Fotogrammen, konstruierte den Licht-Raum-Modulator, ersann ein Polykino und ein Städtelichtspiel. Electrical light has been a symbol of modernity at the latest since the Paris World Exposition in 1900 and its impact has been felt in architecture, theatre, painting, sculpture, photography, film and music. The Bauhaus around the master of form László Moholy-Nagy formed a centre for the new movement from 1922. He experimented with photograms, constructed the light-space modulator, and devised a poly cinema and an urban light show.
