The Olympic Games are finished. What happens now in the iconic buildings? These days a large-scale water features sound and light symphonic concert known as ‚Fantasy Water Cube‚ are showed at the National Swimming Center (Water Cube). The concert sets light, water features, world famous music together, through its performance team, splendid dance and light, shock effect of audio-visual, made the audience experienced a zero distance integration of technology and art. Die Arbeit ist auf der Wiese zwischen dem Besucherzentrum zwischen den beiden Biosphären von tropischem Regenwald und mediterraner Vegetation bis ins Frühjahr 2009 zu sehen sein. Mehr>
Cornwall. Bruce Munro’s iconic ‚Field of Light‘ sculpture is installed at the Eden Project (Architect: Sir Nicholas Grimshaw) in Cornwall. The piece can now be seen on the sloping grass roof of the visitors centre, called the Link building, between the famous Rainforest and Mediterranean Biomes, and will remain there until Spring 2009. Bruce Munro and five assistants worked over three days to install ‚Field of Light‘ at the Eden Project. It is made of 6,000 acrylic stems, through which fibre optic cables run, each crowned with a clear glass sphere. There are 11 external projectors; the stems themselves hold no electric power at all. The installation covers an area of 60 x 20 meters, using 24, 000 meters of fibre optic cable. More>

Die Wahlkampagne erreichte ihren Höhepunkt am späten Abend in Chicagos Grant Park. Dort hielt Barack Obama seine erste Rede als frisch gewählter Präsident vor mehr als 100.000 Menschen. Die Lichtinstallation für den Auftritt im Park lag bei der Event-Agentur C3 Presents. Für die Beleuchtung wurden Martin MAC 2000 Wash XB von Martin Professional eingesetzt. November 4 was an historic day for America, as the nation elected its first African-American president. The culmination of an arduous campaign came later that evening, in Chicago’s Grant Park, when President-Elect Barack Obama held his presidential acceptance speech before a home town crowd of more than 100,000 revelers. Called upon by event producer C3 Presents to light the rally was the stage lighting rental and production company Christie Lites, the lighting contractor and lighting supplier for the event. „The job was somewhat unusual to light because it was outdoors and at the same time had to be lit for TV in a manner typical of an indoor studio,“ commented Huntly Christie, CEO of Christie Lites Orlando. „As such, it was a real mixed bag of lighting. However, the most prominent fixture on the site was the Martin MAC 2000 Wash XB. They were instrumental in making sure that the world witnessed this historic event.“ Lighting designer for the event was Bob Peterson who described the evening and his assignment as such, “It was a very historical night with a feeling of excitement and also a sense of relief when the results were announced. I received directions from the Obama team that the lighting was to be appropriately conservative with no celebratory effects. Die vom M:AI Museum für Architektur und Ingenieurkunst in Nordrhein-Westfalen in der Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine präsentierte Ausstellung (ab 19.11.2008) beschreibt die Metamorphosen einer ehemaligen Industrieregion, dem Ruhrgebiet. Eine große Bild- und Lichtinstallation von Mischa Kuball schildert die Prozesse, die die Internationalen Bauausstellung Emscher Park in der Region angestoßen hat und die bis heute anhalten.
Paris. The M:AI Museum for Architecture and Engineer’s Art in North Rhine-Westphalia presents „Projection Ruhr“ in the Cité de l’ architecture et du patrimoine. The exhibition (open from 19.11.2008) describes the metamorphoses of the former industry region Ruhr area. A big image installation and light installation of Mischa Kuball remembers the processes which the International Construction Exhibition Emscher Park has initialized in the region.
