Lighting Watercube

Peking. Am 8.8.08 um 8.08 wurden die Olympischen Spiele in Peking eröffnet. Zu den Landmarks gehört die Schwimmhalle „Watercube“ in unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft des „Vogelnestes“. Die Wasserblasen-Architektur entwickelte das australischen Büro PTW Architects, die mit Arup und CSCEC umgesetzt wurde. Das Design-Konzept stammt von dem deutschstämmigen Chris Bosse. Zellstrukturen waren die Inspirationsquelle für dieses biomorphe Raum- und Lichtwunder. Wasserblasen, die im wechselnden Licht changieren, bilden die schützende Klimahülle. Chris Bosse ist inzwischen für Laboratory for Visionary Architecture (LAVA) Stuttgart/Sydney/Abu Dhabi tätig.

Beijing. On 08 August 8th at 8.08 h the Olympic Games were opened in Beijing. The swimming hall „Watercube“ belongs to the landmarks in the neighborhood of the „bird’s nest“. The waterbubble architecture developed the Australian office PTW Architects in cooperation with Arup and CSCEC. The design concept comes from the in Germany born Chris Bosse. Cell structures were the inspiration source for this biomorphe space and light miracle. The blubble-structure which iridesce in the varying light forms the protecting climate cover. Chris Bosse is active, in the meantime, for Laboratory for Visionary Architecture (LAVA) in Sydney/Abu Dhabi/Stuttgart.
