    ERCO’s new book ‚Light Perspectives – between culture and technology‘ containing over 260 pages of images, texts and graphics on the design dimensions of architectural lighting will be released at the end of October. What are the intrinsic qualities of light, and how are the techniques and design approaches implemented in architecture? How are abstract lighting concepts conveyed, and how far is our perception of light rooted in the biological and cultural history of human evolution? This book endeavours to identify terms and standards which relate to qualities in architectural lighting. It uses this identification to promote communication and aid dialogue between designers and engineers, building owners and planners, professionals and laymen.

    bild-3Am Basler Platz im Basler Oval hat Artemide seinen neuen Showroom eröffnet. Das architektonische Konzept des neuen Monobrand-Showrooms spricht für sich selbst. Entworfen von der italienischen Architektin und Designerin Carlotta de Bevilacqua unterstreicht die Präsentation die Kompetenz der Marke in den Bereichen Design, Innovation und Planungskompetenz und deckt alle gängigen Sortimentsbereiche ab. Das Gebäude wurde vom Büro Albert Speer & Partner entworfen. Es war bereits mehrfach Spielort im Rahmen der Luminale. Mehr>bild-3

    On the Basler Platz in the Basel Oval Artemide has opened its new showrom. The architectural concept of the new mono brand-Showroom speaks for itself. Designed by the Italian architect and designer Carlotta de Bevilacqua the presentation underlines the competence of the brand in the areas of Design, innovation and planning competence and covers all product ranges. The building was created by the office Albert Speer & Partner. Already the foyer of the Oval was several times a prominent stage of Luminale. More>

    bild-7SKYWAY ’09 ist ein neues internationales Licht-Festival in der polnischen Stadt Torun. Die erste Ausgabe fand im August statt und nahm das astronomische Ereignis der am Abendhimmel gut sichtbaren ‚Perseid Meteor Dusche‘ zum Anlass. Dieses Ereignis wurde in Licht-Kunstwerken reflektiert und kommentiert. Mehr als 30.000 Besucher strömten auf die Straßen und es entstand ein Erlebnis, das noch lange in Erinnerung bleiben wird.     SKYWAY ‘09 is a new International Light Festival, held in the Polish city of Torun. The first edition took place last August, taking advantage of a natural phenomenon, the Perseid meteor shower, with art framing and being framed by this astronomical event. More than 30 000 enthousiastic visitors filled the streets, experiencing the town center in a way that shall be remembered for years to come.     ‚rheinpartie – to move on to pastures new‘ is a festival of projection art and media in the Unesco World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley (2. bis 4. Oktober 2009). Beside the large-scale projects of international artists which show fascinating images and dream worlds in castles, monuments and ruins with the newest technologies there is a row of local initiatives to show the life on and with the river Rhine via small scale projections on house walls and facades. Technical fascination and the charm of the private initiative transform the Rhine Valley all around the day of the German Unification into a dream of a landscape.
